About us
Let's create new value for cedar that has lost its purpose, build a small economic engine, and create a complete cycle!
We started in 2013 with the aim of taking action for the future 50 years from now.
It all started when a designer who moved from Osaka to Kamiyama realized that most of the nature he had thought was a lush green mountain was actually artificial forest, and that even the water source was in danger. He asked himself: "Is there anything I can do as a designer?"
"Soft cedar can't be made into tableware."
"The color variations in the growth rings are not desirable."
People who knew cedar all said so.
Against all odds, it was the local craftsmen who extended a helping hand.
"All living trees are the same."
Their challenging spirit, full of love from walking with wood, transformed the impossible into possible.
SHIZQ tableware was born from the convergence of skilled craftsmen's techniques.
We want people to learn about cedar, mountains, and water through our tableware.
To continue this activity, we will pass on our techniques and aspirations.
We have established our own woodworking shop, "Shizuku Lab," in Kamiyama town, and are working on training young craftsmen and developing new products.
Transforming local resources into treasures with local power.
We will continue to create new value for cedar.
