SHIZQは、そんな思いから徳島県神山町で始まりました。
森に降った雨は、土に染み込み、沢となり、川となり、やがて私たちの暮らしへと流れ込んでいきます。
森を守ることは、水を育てること。
水を育てることは、明日の暮らしを創ること。
私たちは、神山杉の新しい活かし方を考え、木の器や森の香りとして、日々の暮らしへ届けています。

We want to protect our water sources.
In Kamiyama Town, it is said that the water volume of the river has decreased by about 70% compared to 30 years ago.
When planted cedar trees become too dense and light has difficulty reaching the forest floor, biodiversity is lost. The forest's ability to absorb rain and slowly store water diminishes.
To increase river water, it is necessary to allow light into the mountains and restore a diverse forest. To achieve this, it is essential to appropriately thin and utilize the overgrown cedar trees.
Designing New Value for Cedar
"Soft cedar is not suitable for processing."
"Red and white growth rings are not preferred."
Everyone who knew cedar said so.
We, however, believed that its softness and the two-tone pattern of red and white growth rings were unique characteristics of cedar. We aimed to bring out the appeal of what had been considered flaws.
To shed new light on and find value in a local resource that was on the verge of losing its use as a building material.
That is the origin of SHIZQ's manufacturing.

Soft and varying in individual grain, cedar is incredibly difficult to work with, making it no easy feat to craft into everyday tableware. The wisdom and skill of our artisans have overcome these challenges, one by one.
